Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and MRKZYTSZ ("we", "us"), the developer and operator of Usetopia. They apply to the Usetopia apps, the account service, the dashboard at account.usetopia.com, the modules (Usetopia's official add-ons) and their service at get.usetopia.com, and Usetopia Premium. By creating an account or using Usetopia you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. If you got a Usetopia app from Apple's App Store, section 13 also applies; Apple is not a party to these terms.
2. What Usetopia is
Usetopia is a personal video player. It plays your own files, links and media libraries and, with the Zanzibarr module, Usenet articles from your own provider account. Usetopia does not host, sell, index or supply any videos. Its modules provide information such as titles, artwork, ratings, subtitle text and suggestions, never videos. You are responsible for what you open with it.
3. Your account
- An account requires a working email address. Accounts are for adults. Children use Usetopia only through child profiles set up by the account holder.
- Keep your password secret. Your synced data is end-to-end encrypted: if you lose both your password and your recovery key, neither you nor we can recover it.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app or at account.usetopia.com.
4. Acceptable use
Use Usetopia only for content you have the right to access. Follow the law where you live and the terms of the services you connect, such as your Usenet provider, indexers, media servers, Trakt and Simkl.
You must not:
- use Usetopia to infringe copyright or other rights, or to distribute content;
- overload, scrape or attack our services, get around their limits or Premium, or share your account or Premium with others, except that a purchase the App Store lets you share through Family Sharing may be used by the family members it is shared with;
- reverse engineer our services, except where the law allows it;
- use the modules' data for anything other than your personal use of Usetopia.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, after telling you where we reasonably can.
5. Usetopia Premium
- What it includes: every module except Defaultarr (currently Zanzibarr, Metadatarr, Catalogarr, Libraryarr, Subtitlarr, Trackarr and Advisarr) and subtitle timing sync, including for subtitles loaded from your own files, for every profile and device of your account. Defaultarr, playing your own videos, the library, profiles and account sync remain free.
- Where you buy it: in the Usetopia apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV through the App Store, and in the Android app through Google Play. Premium bought there with your account also works in the Windows and Linux versions, which do not sell it. The store's terms also apply to the payment.
- Price and renewal: the price, period and any introductory offer are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase of a licence to use Usetopia Premium. You pay once, it does not renew and it has no fixed end date: it gives your account Premium for as long as Usetopia offers Premium, with what Premium includes at the time (see Changes below).
- Store introductory offers: a free trial or introductory price that the App Store or Google Play offers on a subscription follows that store's rules. Unless you cancel before it ends, the subscription continues at its regular price and renews.
- Usetopia's own free trial, where offered: this is not a store offer. Where the app offers it, an account that has never had Premium can try Premium free once, for the number of days shown before it starts, and each device can start the trial only once. It needs no payment details and is not a subscription: it ends by itself, nothing is charged, nothing renews, and the modules that need Premium then lock again until you buy Premium. The app checks the device as our Privacy Policy explains. We may change the trial or stop offering it.
- Cancelling: manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Premium stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting your Usetopia account does not cancel a store subscription; cancel it in the store.
- Refunds and withdrawal: for App Store and Google Play purchases, the store handles withdrawal and refunds under its terms and the law; we cannot refund App Store purchases ourselves. Our support page explains how to ask the store. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
- Changes: we may add to and improve Premium. If we change the price, the store tells you in advance as its rules require. If we ever discontinue Premium or the Usetopia service, a subscription stays available until the end of the period you paid for, and Lifetime Premium ends when Usetopia stops offering Premium. Any refund then follows the store's terms and the law.
- Modules depend on third-party data sources whose availability we cannot guarantee; we will replace or remove a source that stops working where we reasonably can.
6. Third-party services
Usetopia works with services we do not control, including Usenet providers, indexers, media servers, Trakt, Simkl, subtitle sources, metadata sources and AI models. They are not affiliated with or endorsed by us, their own terms apply, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.
7. AI features
Advisarr's descriptions search, similar titles and recommendations are written by AI models and may be wrong or incomplete. Check before relying on them.
8. Licence and ownership
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Usetopia apps for as long as these terms apply; for an app from the App Store, your licence is Apple's standard licence agreement instead (section 13). Usetopia's name, logo and software are ours or our licensors'; open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the app, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences (for the LGPL libraries mpv and FFmpeg, this includes modifying them for your own use and reverse engineering to debug such changes). Your files, library and settings remain yours.
9. Availability
We work to keep Usetopia available and secure, but services may change, be interrupted or end, and features may be added or removed. Usetopia is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for content you access through Usetopia, or for third-party services. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent, gross negligence or under mandatory consumer law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with its date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using Usetopia and delete your account.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring claims before its courts. Consumers in Türkiye may also apply to consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts.
13. Apps from the App Store
This section applies to the Usetopia apps you get from Apple's App Store, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
- Licence: your licence to use the app is Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. It is a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions permit; other accounts associated with the purchaser through Family Sharing, volume purchasing or Legacy Contacts may also use it. These terms add the rules for your Usetopia account, our services and Premium. If they conflict with Apple's standard licence agreement, that agreement prevails.
- Who the agreement is with: these terms are concluded between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the Usetopia apps and their content.
- Maintenance and support: we alone are responsible for any maintenance and support of the apps, as our support page describes or as the law requires. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services for the apps.
- Warranty: we are responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If an app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for that app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the apps, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
- Product claims: we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the apps or your possession and use of them, including product liability claims, any claim that an app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property: if a third party claims that an app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance: you represent and warrant that you are not located in a country or region that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that the U.S. Government has designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms: when you use the apps, you must comply with the terms of the third-party services that apply, such as your Usenet provider, indexers, media servers and internet or mobile data service (see section 6).
- Questions and claims: send any questions, complaints or claims about the apps to us, not to Apple (section 14).
- Third-party beneficiary: Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as they apply to the apps from the App Store. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
